Playground Projects In 2004, KC CAN! initiated a Playground Project to provide safe, high quality playground to places and programs of need in Kansas City. Since then, we have placed playgrounds in several locations in our community. KC CAN! obtains playground equipment from a combination of in-kind donations and from funds raised at our annual auction. We have held several 'Volunteer Days' to disassemble or re-assemble playgrounds. Click here for pictures. Blessed Sacrament Family Center Blessed Sacrament Family Center in Kansas City, KS provides foster parents support; child and parent drug involved parents, and classes for teenage parents support; child abuse classes; support for parents of children with disabilities. In 2008, KC CAN! provided and installed a new playground for pre-school children. Gillis is a program that provides campus-based living and community services to provide children and families support. Founded in 1870, Gillis truly is an institution in the not-for-profit community providing children's services. KC CAN! has conducted several projects at Gillis to provide a much-needed, large-scale playground, volleyball court and basketball courts. This equipment provides children living at Gillis safe and fun places to engage in physical activity literally in their "backyard". OB serves more than 600 children every day, 98% of whom live below the poverty line. KC CAN! partnered with OB to add a playground for small children on an undeveloped area of the campus. We installed a new play surface and new playground equipment. Every day the playground is used by many children in the OB programs.
