Christmas Project                      

In late 2008 for a second year KC CAN! completed a holiday project that brightened the season for children at Gillis. With funds and donated items from KC CAN! and sponsors, volunteers provided Christmas gifts for children and their family members. With the gifts and donations, there were more than enough items for the Christmas need and Gillis was able to stock their gift closet with enough items for the next few months. The gift closet is used to provide essential items and ‘welcoming gifts’ to new children and family members as they become a part of the Gillis family. Gillis was very appreciative of KC CAN!’s efforts, and this project provided a happy holiday for the grateful children.

KC CAN! has conducted several projects on Gillis' campus to provide a large-scale playground, volleyball court and basketball courts.  This equipment provides children living at Gillis safe and fun places to engage in physical activity literally in their "backyard".  Learn more about this and our other Playground Projects here.
